Guanacaste Province is another appealing place to visit
while you are in Costa Rica. Guanacaste has a hot and dry climate, it’s perfect
escape for people suffering through cold winter months. This region is well known by their many
impressive beaches.
The last time I visited Costa Rica, I also learned that
Guanacaste is surrounded by magnificent mountains. It’s the home of two
well-known National Parks, ‘Rincón de La Vieja’ and ‘Volcán Tenorio’.
There are many activities in this area like tubing,
kayaking, horseback riding, zip lining, etc.
You can find a big variety of accommodations in the
Guanacaste region from hostels, to boutique hotels, to big resorts including a
hand full of All-Inclusive.
After a 3 to 4 days of fun adventures and exploring in the
Arenal rain forest, I like spending some relaxing time on the Pacific Ocean
with a cold drink and a book in my hands.
If you are the adventurous type, you can always find a
number of different activities at the beach such as surfing, paddle boarding,
snorkeling, fishing, etc.
To get to Guanacaste you would need to fly to the city of
Liberia.
If you were already in a different region in Costa Rica and
you would like to continue your adventure in Guanacaste, you have the option of
flying there on a domestic airline.
If you were staying in the Arenal area, there is a domestic
flights from La Fortuna Airport. It will take you around 30 minutes to get to
either Liberia International Airport or Tamarindo Airport (domestic).
If you want to enjoy the landscape of Costa Rica you can
drive or take a shuttle to Liberia. It will take you about 3 hours to drive
from La Fortuna to Liberia. Once you are in Liberia, there are many beaches to
explore.
I have a few favorite hotels in the Guanacaste beach area.
If you like to be in a place where you can walk around
different shops then I would strongly recommend ‘Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort’.
Tamarindo Beach is one of the most famous beaches in the
Guanacaste area where the surfers like to hang out.. www.tamarindodiria.com
The Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort is a charming, ocean front
‘Costarican’ style located in the middle of town. This hotel is surrounded by
many restaurants and bars to choose from. If you like to gamble, the ‘Tamarindo
Diria’ has a casino right across the street.
If you are not into the hustle and bustle then I would
suggest ‘El Mangroove Hotel’. This hotel is a ‘boutique style’ hotel. You can
relax and enjoy the serenity of the hotel by reading a nice book or simply sun
bathing in their enticing pool. Snorkeling or paddle boarding in their calm bay
are ways to enjoy your day. http://elmangroove.net/
With 85 rooms, this exquisite boutique hotel is located
right on the gulf of Papagayo Peninsula on ‘Playa Panama’. This hotel is 20
minutes from the Liberia International Airport.
They are well known by their
incredible cuisine with two delightful restaurants. ‘Makoko’ is a restaurant
that serves breakfast and dinner while ‘Matiss’ offers lunch or snacks during
the day.
‘El Mangroo Hotel’ has first class costumer service. Their
rooms are very appealing and nicely decorated. The rooms also includes a
comfortable hammock to bring out the charm of Costa Rica.
If you are looking for a bigger resort (153 rooms) with
luxury all around then the ‘Andaz Penninsula Papagayo’ will be a good choice.
This distinctive resort captures the Costa Rican flavors at its best.
If you will like to stay in an All-Inclusive Resort I am a
fan of ‘The Westin Golf Resort & Spa, Playa Conchal’. This Resort is
situated on 2,400 acres of lush property with a challenging 18 hole golf course
design by Robert Trent Jones.

hesitate to use a travel professional. Their knowledge and expertise will help
you have a memorable vacation.
